  The Shire’s coastal holiday parks are an important economic pillar and social icon of the Macleay Valley. In order to stay viable in a competitive market and complex economy, Council has recognised the need for long term planning for future improvements to the parks as well as reinvestment in the parks and foreshore areas surrounding them. Design of the bridge commenced in December with construction started in July Work was completed in December with the Kempsey Bypass opening to traffic in late March for the Easter holiday traffic. The Macleay River and Floodplain Bridge is Australia’s longest road bridge. The $4 million dollar bridge opened to traffic last month, but now with the approaches all sealed it was time to recognise the great work that has been done. The new bridge is a welcome sight for the community, looks to have come in under budget, and despite the additional obstacles caused by the fires, I am thrilled that council has been able. Students will have free access to high-speed Internet, modern technology, and general academic and wellbeing support all delivered locally at CUC Macleay Valley.
